Join us at Wolfville’s Al Whittle theatre this summer for our presentation of Eliza Wilson’s fantastic play, “The Strike at Putney Church”. On August 7, 8, 13, 14 and 15. This hilarious period comedy is based on the Lucy Maud Montgomery short story (The Strike at Putney – 1905) and premiered at the Charlottetown Festival in 1989. The story follows the misadventures of some residents of the small PEI town of Putney in 1922. The church elders will not allow a female missionary to speak from the church pulpit and the women of Putney are not happy. See what happens when a group of women (who just got the vote) decide to teach the church elders a lesson.

Founders
None of this, of course, happens without a lot of help. Scott’s sisters, Nadine McCormick and Dawn Vroom and his brother-in-law, Rick Vroom, had worked together to produce Shirley Valentine. The concerted effort worked so well that they decided to formalize this theatrical family affair and so, Scrappy Lady Productions Co-operative Limited was created.
